The Associate of Arts in Teaching (AAT) degree is intended for transfer to baccalaureate programs that lead to initial Texas teacher certification. Each of the three AAT specializations is designed to prepare teachers for the various certifications offered in Texas. Students wishing to complete an AAT within a specific content area should contact the respective department for guidance. The degree plan best suited to the desired certification should be followed and transferred to a university to complete Texas teacher certification requirements. For students interested in this field, please be advised that a criminal background could keep you from being certified/licensed or may prevent you from working in some settings. Grades 8–12; EC–12 Other Than Special Education, Associate of Arts in Teaching: AAT Specializations
The Grades 8–12; EC–12 Other Than Special Education, AAT award is used for the various areas of specialization. A general degree plan for Grades 8–12; EC–12 Other Than Special Education is not awarded at Del Mar College without a specialized discipline. The degree plan for each discipline area will provide the course sequence with content courses indicated for that specialization.
